KINGSPORT — Domtar employees from across North America are collectively donating $150,000 to local community organizations, according to a recent release.

Ellie Mitchell, a member of Domtar’s Kingsport Mill team, received a grant through the $2K Your Way program to support the Kingsport Chamber’s Little Innovators’ Night. The STEM event is said to encourage young children and their families to explore science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on and play-based learning.

“As the daughter of a Title I educator with 37 years of service, I understand firsthand how meaningful resources and support can transform the educational experience for students, families, and school communities,” Mitchell said in the release. “I am thrilled to collaborate with the Kingsport Chamber’s Education & Workforce Development program to bring this opportunity to a local Title I elementary school.”

Domtar’s $2K Your Way program gives employees the chance to apply for $2,000 grants supporting charitable causes in their communities.

“Caring is one of our company values, and the $2K Your Way program puts caring into action,” Seth Kursman, chief global public affairs and communications officer, said in the release. “This year’s strong participation highlights our people’s commitment to making a difference in communities where they work and live.”
