Domtar’s Kingsport Mill marked Earth Day 2026 with hands-on activities that brought employees together to support environmental stewardship, promote recycling and enhance the local community.
On April 22, the mill partnered with the company’s Domtar Connects program to support Earth Week initiatives that reinforce the company’s commitment to sustainability and caring for the communities where employees live and work.
One of the featured Earth Week activities was a litter cleanup along the streets surrounding the mill. Ten employees volunteered their time to collect litter and improve the area’s appearance while promoting environmental responsibility.
“Earth Day provides an opportunity for our employees to make a positive impact both at the mill and in our community,” said Bonnie Depew, environmental manager. “We’re proud of the team members who volunteered their time to help keep Kingsport beautiful and support sustainability efforts.”
In addition to the community cleanup, the mill partnered with Keep Kingsport Beautiful, Eastman Chemical Company and Northeast State Community College to organize an electronics recycling drive for employees. Domtar team members were encouraged to bring old electronic devices and equipment from home for responsible recycling. The collected items were combined with electronic equipment from the mill and picked up for recycling, helping divert materials from local landfills and supporting the circular economy.
The Earth Week activities reflect Domtar’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable manufacturing. As Tennessee’s largest recycled manufacturer, the Kingsport Mill plays an important role in transforming recovered paper and cardboard into new packaging products, helping conserve resources and reduce waste.
By participating in community partnerships and environmental initiatives throughout the year, Domtar Kingsport continues to demonstrate its dedication to sustainability while creating positive impacts for employees, neighbors and the broader Kingsport community.
