My daughter, Jenesis Fisher (an account analyst at the Kingsport Mill), and I had the pleasure of serving as judges for the Mount Carmel Elementary Science Fair, where we witnessed an incredible display of curiosity, creativity and scientific exploration from young learners. The fair featured a wide range of projects, from hands-on experiments to inventive demonstrations — all showcasing the students’ enthusiasm for discovery.
We were particularly impressed by the variety of topics explored, including a homemade lava lamp, how to preserve fruit and a 4-turn engine. Each project reflected the students’ hard work, imagination and growing understanding of the scientific method.

As judges, we enjoyed engaging with the students and asking about their hypotheses, methods and conclusions. Their excitement in explaining their projects was truly inspiring; and it was wonderful to see their confidence and passion for learning.
Overall, the event was a fantastic celebration of science and innovation at the elementary level. We commend all participants for their efforts and thank the teachers and organizers for fostering such a fun and educational experience. It was an honor to be part of an event that encourages young minds to explore, experiment and embrace the wonders of science!
